About Us

Finding Synergies to Enhance Global Health

Each of the schools of the health sciences brings a unique commitment to global health and a relentless pursuit of progress.

The Office of Global Affairs supports global health initiatives across the University of Pittsburgh by working in partnership with university resources such as the University Center for International Studies and the Office of Research Protections. As part of the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for the Health Sciences, our goal is to ensure that global health efforts are locally informed, ethically sound and aligned with institutional policies—while ultimately improving health outcomes around the world.

Our Mission

To be a leader in creating innovative, sustainable solutions that empower communities, advance global health and foster cross-disciplinary partnerships across the health sciences.

Our Vision

To harness and connect the expertise of the University’s six schools of the health sciences. Together, we focus on supporting investigator-initiated global health efforts and co-creating impactful health sciences sites in low-resource settings. These new sites are being designed to build local capacity, develop the next generation of health professionals and drive reciprocal innovation and research.

Our Approach

We believe in the power of creativity and collaboration. By combining diverse perspectives, we tackle complex health challenges with solutions that meet the evolving needs of communities and health care systems. With a sense of urgency and intentionality, we turn ideas into action, ensuring that our efforts make a tangible and lasting impact.
